How to Get Affordable Car Insurance in New Jersey

There is an Act in New Jersey, called the Automobile Insurance Cost Reduction Act, which allows New Jersey drivers the ability to buy basic car insurance policies in New Jersey, for cheaper than all of the other available car insurance policies in the state. In all honesty, there isn’t much that will beat the most inexpensive car insurance policy plan available, however there are some things that you should know about the insurance plan which is being offered before you eliminate all of your other options.

The Automobile Insurance Cost Reduction Act is useful in that it allows all drivers to obtain inexpensive car insurance in New Jersey, because the policy that is offered is significantly cheaper than what you will pay for a standard automobile insurance policy. This basic car insurance policy includes $15,000 per person, for personal injury protection, and $250,000 for significant or permanent injuries. This plan also includes $5,000 of property damage per accident. Unfortunately, liability insurance for bodily injury is not included in this basic insurance policy, however, it is an option that can be added, to the tune of $10,000 per accident for the policyholder.

This basic car insurance policy also does not include uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, nor does it include collision or comprehensive coverage. Collision and Comprehensive coverage are options which can be added on, but it depends on which form of the basic car insurance policy was issued to the policyholder.

Although this basic car insurance plan is the cheapest available, it offers very minimum coverage. This coverage is enough to get you by if you simply need a cheap insurance plan, but there are much better plans with better and more comprehensive features and even though these plans are more expensive, they are well worth taking a look at when you are considering all of your options. The basic car insurance is a quick and inexpensive fix for people who are currently driving without insurance, or who cannot get regular automobile insurance coverage because of their credit rating, or their driving record. However, this basic car insurance policy is not for everyone, because the coverage offered is not exactly desirable.

When it comes to choosing the right automobile insurance plan for your situation, it is absolutely imperative that you really shop around. Affordable car insurance in New Jersey can be easy to find, as long as you understand where to look, and how to properly compare quotes in order to ensure that you are receiving the best available policy. There are many different approaches that you can take when it comes to obtaining car insurance quotes, but the method which is generally quickest and the most effortless is simply to do a search online for car insurance companies with offices located in New Jersey. Most websites dedicated to car insurance will offer you the ability to obtain a free quote simply by inputting some information about yourself, your vehicle and your driving record.

Once this information is sent in, the insurance company will respond with a free automobile insurance quote. There is no limit to how many free car insurance quotes you can collect, so you should make a point to spend a great deal of time researching before you come to any conclusions. You should collect car insurance quotes from every local insurance provider that you can find, then sit down and really weigh your options before coming to any conclusions. Just because an insurance company offers you an extremely low quote, this does not mean it is the best available insurance for your situation. The basic car insurance policy offered by the Automobile Insurance Cost Reduction Act is proof of this, because even though the insurance quote seems great, the coverage is not really worth the price that you pay for it.

In addition to price, there are some other factors that you should consider when you begin to shop around for insurance providers. There are a large number of different insurance companies and agents available on the internet, each competing to give you the best possible quote for your automobile insurance. Many of these insurance companies have offices in various states, but they may not have a local office in New Jersey. What this means, is that if you ever have questions or concerns pertaining to your insurance policy, you will not have a local insurance provider to turn to in order to address these problems. This is one of the largest problems associated with doing your automobile insurance shopping on the internet. Before you choose an insurance provider, make sure that there is either a local office that you can visit when you have questions, or that there is a toll free 1-800 that you can call, with a friendly voice on the other end who will walk you through your concerns. Large insurance companies do not always have your best interest in mind, so make sure that you are opting for insurance coverage through a company that will continue to be helpful and easy to work with after you buy your insurance plan.

Something else that you need to keep in mind while shopping for insurance is that there are providers who will offer special discounts and rates if you ask for them. While you are weighing all of your options and considering all of your choices, ask the local agencies that you are considering if they offer any special rates or discounts. In an attempt to be competitive, and to make sure that you choose them as your insurance provider, most insurance companies will discount your rate, or offer you a special deal. You should also make sure that you are obtaining the right kind of insurance for your situation. For example, there are special insurance plans designated for young or new drivers in order to offer them discounted rates. Additionally, vehicles that are older than fifteen years may qualify for antique car insurance, which entails a discounted rate for cars which are appreciating in value rather than depreciating as a normal vehicle would.

Term Insurance – More Cover At Affordable Rates

One may wonder whether there is anything cheap in these days, that too, Insurance. Insurance is an option for individuals to provide their beloved family with the chosen amount on the happening of any unfortunate event to the individual even if the event happens after one day of taking the policy.

So, a compensation paid for the bereaved family need not necessarily be cheap taking into consideration the high amount of compensation that would be required by the family to reset in to their normal chore of activities less the breadwinners earnings every month.

But, strangely, we try to educate just that. As people belonging predominantly to a family set up, it is essential that at least the earning member of the family has sufficient Insurance on his / her life. This is the most basic coverage that could be endowed to a family against any unforeseen loss.

The Marketing philosophers of Insurance companies have their imaginations and brains put to utmost use to spell out catchy names of a variety of schemes with a combo of a limited type of insurance methodologies to add a magic touch to grab the attention of the prospects or customers to select their products. I do understand it as a great work done by great people. But, to say the least, it all waters down to typical marketing strategies and nothing else.

Truly there are only 2 types of insurance that life insurance could offer. One is the Insurance that pays on the death of the policyholder which is called as Risk Insurance or Term Insurance. The other is that Insurance which pays on the survival of the policyholder to the stated term, which is called as Pure Endowment Insurance. So, Term Insurance and Pure Endowment are the two basic forms of Life Insurance philosophy. All the modern day Life Insurance schemes are only extensions or combination of these theories in some measure.

Term Insurance, as the name suggests is an Insurance that remains in force up to the term selected. In any case, when the life assured or the policyholder dies during the term of the policy, the policy amount or Sum Assured becomes payable to the heir apparent or the nominee of the policy as per the terms of the contract signed between the Insurer and the Insured. In case the policyholder stays alive or survives the stated term of the policy, he can forget any returns on the policy because the policy is purely risk based and payable only if the unforeseen event happens. If the event does not happen, the insured loses control over the policy or better said as – the policy becomes NULL and VOID.

So, the maintenance of the policy is very much easy to the insurer as well as the insured person. Once the insurer assesses the risk of the person, he decides the quantum of premium to be collected for covering the risk and issues the policy. After this the job of the underwriter is over. The policyholder, once he accepts the policy, should keep paying the premiums regularly for the selected term. The benefits under this policy becomes payable only on the death of the insured during the term of the policy, else, nothing is payable.

Such is the concept of Term Insurance. Term Insurance products can be combined with added features like -

Riders or add-on benefits.

Double Accident Benefit.

Riders are add-on features over and above the general policy conditions. Double accident benefit is the benefit of getting an additional amount equal to the Sum Assured or twice the Sum Assured on his death due to accident. To avail this benefit, the insured has to pay a small amount as premium in addition to the normal premium.

Benefits of Term Insurance:

Need for the family

Term Insurance being a Risk Insurance Scheme is designed to cater to the family as the utmost beneficiary. Though we talk about the benefits on the loss of the earning person, the emotional loss could not be replaced at any cost. That is why it is said that Life Insurance does not strictly follow the principle of INDEMNITY which is true only to Non-Life Insurance.

Low Cost High Sum

Since the Insurance premium goes only for the purpose of covering of risk for the life, the premium is very less and affordable compared to other forms of Insurance Schemes. Complementing to the less premium the purchase value of the Sum Assured or the amount of insurance can be higher at the lower ages when the earning capacity, health conditions are at its best. The approximate annual premium for a standard life aged 25 years for a Risk Sum Assured of Rs.1 Million works out to Rs.2500 to Rs.2700 or around $60 to $70 in almost all the Life Insurance Companies around the globe.

Earlier the better

In Insurance, we always stress that earlier we go in for insurance, the premium is lesser. As age advances, the purchase value of the policy becomes all the more high. The simple reason is that as age advances, normal life has to undergo various health hazards like cardio, respiratory problems that are rampant in modern times. Hence, the premium are arrived by actuaries considering the general average of human life. If we take the present average as around 70 years, the premium keeps rising from around 25 years and touches the maximum at around 70 years. So, the decision of opting for insurance at an early age is advisable.

Tax Benefits

The reduced cost of Insurance premium supplemented by the high sum assured that becomes affordable can actually contribute to a savings in the annual income by way of gaining income tax holidays to a certain amount of the premiums paid annually. Insurance premium comes in handy every year to reduce your tax liabilities.

Collateral Security

In Insurance terms, we call this as mortgage. These days, all purchases, right from houses or flats, consumer goods, education come to us in the form of loans provided by Banks or financial institutions. In addition to the Equated Monthly Installment that becomes payable for the loan outstanding, the banking or finance company also seeks collateral security to the loans advanced in order to have a control over the amount paid as loan to consumers. Term Insurance has been sought after as a very good option in this area because of its high sum assured purchase at a low cost premium. The premium would not actually be a burden on the purse of the insured in addition to the loan EMI.

Conclusion

The Term Insurance scheme has a handful of features to its advantage except that the scheme is a risk method and does not bestow any returns on the premium investment made. So to say, it forfeits even the premium paid regularly or as a one time payment on the expiry of the period of insurance. But, if we consider Insurance as a basic element of need for mankind, without any doubt, Term Insurance would be the best and affordable option.

The Best Way To Find The Most Affordable Life Insurance To Fit Your Needs

Life insurance provides financial protection for beneficiaries in the event of the insured’s death. Life insurance benefits can serve as a replacement of lost income to your family or to pay bills and final expenses. The best way to find the most affordable insurance is by understanding what types of insurance are available and what they provide for you.

Life insurance may be divided into two basic classes – Term and Permanent. Term life insurance provides life insurance coverage for a specified term of years for a specified premium. The policy does not accumulate cash value. Term is generally considered “pure” insurance, where the premium buys protection in the event of death and nothing else. There are less expensive premiums for younger people, but rates go up with age.

Permanent life insurance is life insurance that remains in force until the policy matures, unless the owner fails to pay the premium when due. The policy cannot be cancelled by the insurer for any reason except fraud in the application, and that cancellation must occur within a period of time defined by law (usually two years). Permanent insurance builds a cash value that reduces the amount at risk to the insurance company and thus the insurance expense over time.

The three basic types of permanent insurance are whole life, universal life, and endowment.

Whole life insurance provides for a level premium, and a cash value table included in the policy guaranteed by the company. The primary advantages of whole life are guaranteed death benefits, guaranteed cash values, fixed and known annual premiums, and mortality and expense charges will not reduce the cash value shown in the policy.

The primary disadvantages of whole life are premium inflexibility, and the internal rate of return in the policy may not be competitive with other savings alternatives. Riders are available that can allow one to increase the death benefit by paying additional premium. The death benefit can also be increased through the use of policy dividends.

Premiums are much higher than term insurance in the short-term, but cumulative premiums are roughly equivalent if policies are kept in force until average life expectancy. Cash value can be accessed at any time through policy “loans”. Since these loans decrease the death benefit if not paid back, payback is optional. Cash values are not paid to the beneficiary upon the death of the insured; the beneficiary receives the death benefit only.

Universal life insurance is a relatively new insurance product intended to provide permanent insurance coverage with greater flexibility in premium payment and the potential for a higher internal rate of return. A universal life policy includes a cash account. Premiums increase the cash account. Interest is paid within the policy (credited) on the account at a rate specified by the company. This rate has a guaranteed minimum but usually is higher than that minimum. Mortality charges and administrative costs are charged against (reduce) the cash account. The surrender value of the policy is the amount remaining in the cash account less applicable surrender charges, if any.

A universal life policy addresses the perceived disadvantages of whole life. Premiums are flexible. The internal rate of return is usually higher because it moves with the financial markets. Mortality costs and administrative charges are known. And cash value may be considered more easily attainable because the owner can discontinue premiums if the cash value allows it. And universal life has a more flexible death benefit because the owner can select one of two death benefit options. Option A pays the face amount at death and Option B pays the face amount plus the cash value.

But universal life has its own disadvantages, which stem primarily from its flexibility. The policy lacks the fundamental guarantee that the policy will be in force unless sufficient premiums have been paid and cash values are not guaranteed.

Endowments are policies, which mature before the normal endowment age. Endowments are considerably more expensive (in terms of annual premiums) than either whole life or universal life because the premium paying period is shortened and the endowment date is earlier. Annuities are a financial product issued by life insurance companies but are not life insurance policies.

Your insurance needs will change throughout your lifetime and your particular situation.

· Singles: Insurance needs primarily concern final expenses.

· Young parents: Insurance needs focus on family protection, income replacement and final expenses.

· Latter-stage parents: Insurance needs center on preservation of family income and lifestyle, final expenses, as well as funding for college expenses.

· Golden years: Financial and insurance needs focus on income/lifestyle protection for the surviving spouse, preservation of assets, estate distribution and final expenses.

Remember, if your life insurance policy is not doing what you need it to, you are not saving any money. Talk to a financial advisor, do your research and you will find the type of insurance that provides the benefits you need at the lowest cost.

Affordable Health Insurance And The Wisdom In Loyalty Discounts

Affordable health insurance: If you want discounts, buy your health insurance policy from the same insurer you bought your other policies from. Every insurance company normally offers a discount if you buy more than one policy from them.

That said, it may not serve your best interest to do this as you might be better off if you buy each of your policies from different insurers. I’ll take some time out to explain this…

We’ll make believe that a certain profile got the following rates from different insurers when he shopped for different insurance policies…

Insurer A…

Health insurance: $2,320

Auto insurance: $2,487

Home insurance: $1,400

Insurer B…

Health insurance: $2,724

Auto insurance: $1,472

Home insurance: $2,120

Insurer C…

Health insurance: $1,640

Auto insurance: $3,500

Home insurance: $2,080

As is now obvious, the insurer who offered the best quote for auto insurance did not have the best for any other insurance policy. So here’s what he’ll get with a 10% discount if he goes ahead to still buy all his policies from Insurer B…

$1,472 + $2,120 + $2,724 = $6,316

$6316 – (10% of $6316) = $5,684.40

On the other hand, he’ll spend the following on insurance as a whole if he goes for the insurer who offers him the best for each policy…

$1,400 + $1,472 + $1,640 = $4,512

So even though he’ll get a multi-policy discount if he buys all his policies from one insurer, he’ll not save as much as he did by buying from different insurers. $1,172.40 is certainly not an amount you should throw away and that’s what he could have lost if he opted for a multi-policy discount instead.

You might be wondering how to find out whether it’s better for you to pass off a multi-policy discount or go for it. So here’s how to find out…

Make out some time to get and compare quotes for each of your different insurance policies from at least three insurance quotes sites. Pick the lowest rates offered for each your insurance policies and then simply compare their total with the total you’ll pay after a multi-policy discount and you’d know which is better in your case.

Top Tips For Buying Affordable Health Insurance

· First things 1st, Protect yourself

Never, Never, Never let your health insurance lapse. If your new insurance doesn’t come through or your health conditions have changed you may not be eligible for similar coverage at a similar price.

· Avoid fraudulent insurance plans

Always, Always go with a large well known company. Small or unknown insurance companies that aggressively fight for you to sign up and have lower rates than comparable plans of larger companies are a bad bad sign. They sign up thousands of individuals in good health then suddenly when people start submitting claims the insurance company starts dramatically increasing their rates. Clients in good health go elsewhere but those with health issues get stuck. The insurance company may continue increasing rates and reducing benefits leaving you stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Call your states insurance department and make sure the insurance agent and company are legitimate, and licensed in your state. Most fraudulent plans are sold over the Internet or through direct mail solicitations.

Always use a check, money order or credit card when buying a policy so that you have a record of your purchase. Never pay cash and avoid direct withdrawal and automated payments at least for several statement periods. Never make payments to the agent, only to the insurance company.

Never be pressured by “one time deals” or “last chance offers for special savings”.

· Know what your buying

Remember if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

When comparing health plans, check the “Exclusions” first. One of the first things an experienced agent looks at in a health insurance plan is the list of plan exclusions, or what is not covered. Often found in small print, what is not covered is equally if not more important than what is.

Comparing policies and providers is a must in today’s high cost insurance market. Using a website or agent that compares multiple providers and plans is the best way to ensure your getting the best policy for the right price, but remember if a policy is significantly cheaper, beware.

· Important notes of interest

Smoking will dramatically raise the policy prices of your health and life insurance plans.

Locking into a health insurance policy when your young will help you ensure long term affordable coverage since getting health insurance when your older, or have established medical issues is much more difficult and costly.

Having some individual health insurance is far better than having nothing at all. With no rehabilitation benefits you could lose your job, in turn losing everything you’ve worked for.

· What are your needs?

Are you planning on starting a family, and therefore in need of both maternity and child coverage, including immunizations? A problem newborn can easily accumulate $200,000 in advanced medical care. Therefore a plan with maternity benefits can shoot up costs. Overall, buy the best policy you can afford to keep.

Would you like your office and/or hospital visits included in your coverage? Do you need coverage for prescriptions? Be sure to consider your current and future needs when shopping for insurance.

Do not inquire about health insurance until you have fully evaluated your present and past medical conditions. An Individual Health Insurance Company may elect not to cover your conditions, or they may pump up the normal premium rates.

If you have serious health conditions you might try to see if Blue Cross will insure you, keep your current coverage in place if they have a 180 +- day delay for pre-existing conditions.

· How can policy rates be adjusted to be more affordable

Check to see how much lower your premium will be if you opt for a major medical plan with a $1,000, $2,500, or even $5,000 deductible.

I recently switched from an insurance plan with $1000 deductible plus 50% copay to $3500 and $30 copay per office visit. To a 1500 deductible with only 3 office visits paid for per year. I rarely go to the doctor so having to pay for my visits myself wasn’t going to cost me much and my policy was $400 less per quarter, substantially better for me at $1600 per year savings.

Note: not all individual health insurance policies are Major Medical plans. Some are hospital plans with stripped benefits, or just hospital indemnity plans which would limit the amount paid per day for hospitalization.

Check to see if the insurer has one rate for all ages, male and female. Some individual health plans base your rates on age, with females getting lower rates at certain ages, and males getting higher rates.

Get multiple quotes from various insurance companies in order to make your best decision. By comparing companies, you may save some money and find greater benefit plans. Be sure that you are comparing apples to apples, since prices and coverage on different plans will vary.

· There are several types of health plans available to choose

Always try to purchase a Major Medical insurance plan. Most Major Medical plans will pay up to $2,000,000 or more in lifetime benefits.

There are major medical plans available that allow you to customize your coverage and stay within your budget. Health insurance plans that cover all the basics are flexible and affordable. You can pick and choose the coverage and deductible amount you want.

Check out the HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) beware though, an HMO is difficult and resistant, you may have to beg to get a referral approved, even though your doctor insists on it. Plus you select your doctor from their list and only use a certain hospital when necessary.

A PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) offers more flexibility at a higher price.

POS (Point of Service), HSA (Health Savings Account-also known as MSA-medical savings account), and traditional indemnity, which is becoming less common as it is more expensive than the other plans. Carefully compare the pros and cons of each plan, and consider which will be more beneficial to you.

One plan that is gaining popularity fast is a (HDHP) High Deductible Health Plan. Major medical coverage is provided with this type of plan. This type of plan features higher deductibles than other types of health insurance and provides coverage for serious injury and illness. Routine doctor’s visits and exams can be included for as cheap as $19 per month with this plan.

Similar to an HMO, PPO, and POS an HDHP uses a network of doctors and hospitals to provide complete medical care and benefits to it’s members. These networks are very large and have providers wherever you may live in America. Discount medical service is given to members of an HDHP plan allowing you and your insurance company to reduce medical costs which keeps your premium lower.

Many variables are possible with an HDHP health plan such as a high deductible, flexible catastrophic limits, coinsurance, copays, preventive care, and prescriptions. Monthly premium savings can be quite substantial, so be sure to look at a high deductible health plan before you decide to buy a new health insurance policy.
